Some weddings stay with you long after the day is over, and this Mustard Seed Hill wedding is one I’ll never forget.
Matthew has served alongside my husband on the same submarine for nearly five years, so when he and Kathryn reached out about engagement photos while visiting Northeast Florida, I was honored to document such an exciting season of their lives. We spent the evening exploring together, laughing, and creating photographs that felt natural and true to who they are.

By the end of their engagement session, I decided to shoot my shot.
I asked if they had ever considered bringing me to Kentucky to photograph their wedding.
Their answer was an immediate yes.
I’ll never forget that moment.

Knowing they trusted me enough to leave my home state and document one of the most important days of their lives was incredibly humbling. Out of all the talented photographers closer to home, they chose someone they already knew and trusted to tell their story. That is one of the greatest compliments I could ever receive, and it’s a privilege I’ll never take for granted.
A few months later, I packed my camera bags, hopped in my car, and traveled to Mustard Seed Hill in Millersburg, Kentucky, to document one of the most beautiful wedding days I have ever had the privilege of photographing.
Although I am a Jacksonville wedding photographer based in Northeast Florida, I love when a couple invites me to celebrate somewhere meaningful to them. This wedding was proof that some stories are worth every mile.
A Timeless Mustard Seed Hill Wedding

From the moment I arrived, I knew this day was going to be something special.
Mustard Seed Hill immediately caught my attention with its historic brick estate, beautiful grounds, and timeless architecture. Every part of the property felt elegant without taking attention away from what mattered most: Kathryn and Matthew.
The vibrant florals brought the entire day to life. Bright pinks, peaches, blues, and lush greenery added so much personality while perfectly complementing the classic setting. It was colorful, joyful, and completely true to them.

As the day unfolded, I found myself constantly reaching for my camera. Every corner of the property offered something beautiful, from the quiet moments while getting ready to the golden light that settled in during portraits. It was one of those wedding days where everything came together effortlessly.
From Engagement Photos to “I Do”

One of my favorite parts of this experience was getting to tell more than just one chapter of Kathryn and Matthew’s story.
After photographing their engagement session in Florida, we arrived at the wedding day already knowing each other. There was no pressure to get comfortable in front of the camera. Instead, we were able to jump right into celebrating.
That trust made such a difference.
The laughter was genuine.
The smiles came naturally.
The emotion never had to be forced.
Because of that, every image feels authentic to who they are, and that’s always my goal for every couple I photograph.

Favorite Moments from This Mustard Seed Hill Wedding

If you’ve followed my work for any amount of time, you know how much I love documenting moments as they naturally happen.
The joyful hugs after the ceremony.
Parents holding back tears.
Friends laughing during speeches.
The quiet glances between newlyweds when no one else is watching.
Those are the moments that become family heirlooms.

This Mustard Seed Hill wedding also gave me the chance to create some of my favorite drone photographs to date. Seeing everyone gathered from above captured the scale of their celebration in a way that isn’t possible from the ground.

Those aerial images quickly became some of my favorite photographs in the gallery. They tell the story of the day from such a unique perspective.
A Cinematic Wedding Highlight Film

Another reason this Mustard Seed Hill wedding means so much to me is that it became one of my favorite wedding highlight films I’ve created.
Throughout the day, I captured behind-the-scenes video alongside their photographs. These clips preserved movement, laughter, happy tears, and all the little moments in between.
My highlight films are designed to complement your wedding gallery. They give you another way to relive the feeling of your wedding day. They are not meant to replace a full wedding videographer. Instead, they beautifully preserve the emotion, energy, and in-between moments that photographs alone cannot capture.
Watching Kathryn and Matthew’s story come together through both timeless images and film reminded me exactly why I started offering this experience.
